Salmon River Bed and Breakfast

In the Village of Brightwood

The Villages of Mt. Hood are pleased to acquaint you with Tracy Mathey, the new owner/host of Salmon River Bed and Breakfast in Brightwood, Oregon. Tracy is a sculptor who has sold her work through commission. When she purchased the property earlier this year, she felt it would be an inspired place to create, work and live.

Tracy has already made a number of intriguing changes to both the facilities and the grounds, and started accepting guests in July of 2006. Her style might be termed rustic elegance, with a touch of a contemporary artist's perspective. It will surprise no one that Tracy plans to continue with her sculpting work and incorporate it into the rooms, grounds and breakfast table.

RIVER SETTING: Located right on the banks of the resonant, flowing waters of the Salmon River, the Salmon River Bed and Breakfast is set amidst fir, cedar and other native trees. Just to the north, guests will see an old bridge arching over the river, its concrete walls graced with an array of classic arches capped with a rounded top. In short, the environs have a comfortable sense of maturity and history.

LODGING FEATURES: There are two luxury bedrooms that are detached from the main house in a lofty space overlooking the hot tub, fire pit, deck and river. Each room has cable TV/DVD/VHS/CD and a private bathroom. A common area off the bedrooms is a comfortable gathering spot to visit, or sit and read.

Tracy, who loves the art of cuisine, shares that breakfasts always include an uncommon, special treat for guests.

Hospitality flows naturally from Tracy's guest service, revealing a genuine love of attending to all the details that make a stay at the Salmon River Bed and Breakfast memorable. July/August 2006
